A very special day at the Galway Races this Monday, 27th October 2025, as we celebrate and bid a fond farewell to our dear colleague and friend, Lorcan Wyer, Clerk of the Course.

Since joining the Galway Races team in 2010, Lorcan has been an invaluable part of our racing family. Working closely with Gerry Broderick, our Course Foreman, and Michael Moloney, CEO of the Galway Races, Lorcan’s professionalism, dedication, and deep passion for racing have shaped every festival, fixture, and race day over the past three decades.

Michael Moloney, CEO of the Galway Races:

“It’s hard to put into words just how much Lorcan has meant to all of us here at the Galway Races. His knowledge, calm leadership, and tireless commitment have been the backbone of so many successful race meetings over the years. Lorcan embodies everything that makes this place special, teamwork, integrity, and a genuine love for racing. On behalf of the entire team, I want to thank him for three incredible decades of dedication. He’ll always be part of the Galway Races family.”

From every Summer Festival to each October Bank Holiday Weekend, Lorcan has been a constant presence, ensuring everything runs seamlessly, no matter the weather or the challenge. His commitment to the sport, to his colleagues, and to the entire racing community has left an enduring mark on Galway and beyond.

As we gather to say goodbye, we also celebrate a career defined by excellence, teamwork, and love for the sport. While Lorcan will be deeply missed on race days, we know he’ll never be too far away, always part of the Galway Races family and forever cheering us on from the side lines.

Thank you, Lorcan, for your 15 years of unwavering service, loyalty, and friendship.
