New Talent Joins Galway Races as Preparations Build for Race Week 2026
The Galway Races is delighted to announce the appointment of three new permanent team members, strengthening its core staff as preparations intensify for Race Week 2026.
Michaela McNamara joins as Partnership & Engagement Executive, where she will oversee relationships with members of The Club, all Annual Badge queries, and the festival’s valued sponsorship partners.
Cara Loughnane has been appointed Admin Support Executive, becoming the first point of contact for Galway Races related enquiries and ensuring smooth communication across the organisation.
Mark Baynes joins the Facilities Team, where he will play a key role in maintaining the racecourse’s buildings and infrastructure to the highest standard.
These appointments bring the Galway Races’ permanent core team to ten, reflecting the organisation’s continued growth and year‑round activity.
Speaking about the new hires, CEO of Galway Racecourse, Michael Moloney said:
“We’re thrilled to welcome Michaela, Cara and Mark to the team. Each brings energy, expertise and a genuine passion for what makes the Galway Races so special. As we look ahead to Race Week 2026, their roles will be vital in helping us deliver the world‑class experience our visitors, partners and community expect.”
With the countdown well and truly on to Race Week 2026, running from Monday 27th July to Sunday 2nd August, the Galway Races team will continue to expand. It takes over 1,500 workers across the week to stage one of Ireland’s most iconic and vibrant sporting and social events.
