Weekend Family Fun at the Galway Races
The Bank Holiday weekend at the Galway Races Summer Festival has a great line up on both Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th August. Fun and colour is the theme for these spectacular days with children admitted free of charge. As well as the action on the race track, there is lots of entertainment for the young racegoer including a mobile pet farm, a spectacular bike show, face painting, inflatable games for the kids, meet and greets with Minnie and Mickey Mouse and a miniature racecourse express train too!
Saturday’s feature race has a new sponsor with Galway Shopping Centre now sponsoring the handicap hurdle worth €100,000. Sunday once again sees the very popular ‘Mad Hatters Competition’ take centre stage, with fantastic holidays up for grabs, generously sponsored by Irelands West Airport Knock and Sunway. Judging the children’s and adult’s mad hatter competition will be Caithriona King (local milliner) joined by local sporting hero, Eddie the Eagle from Connacht Rugby.
The Mad Hatter’s Competition: in the children category, the first prize on offer is a fantastic family trip for two adults and two children to Lapland with one-night accommodation in the ‘Santa Claus Hotel, compliments of Sunway Holidays. Flight departs on December 12th 2017 and a holiday in Lapland is truly magical and one to treasure forever. Second prize is a two-night family stay at Hotel Westport with tickets for two adults and two children to the Pirate Adventure Park at Westport House. For the adults taking part, be in with a chance of winning a week’s sun holiday for two people to either Faro, Lanzarote, Malaga or Tenerife. Second prize is a trip for two with accommodation and match tickets to Manchester United v Swansea premier league match on 31st March 2017
