Tote detail plans for this year’s Galway Races

Tote to sponsor the Tote Galway Plate for the 13th consecutive year

Tote to sponsor the stable staff canteen for the festival’s seven days

Approximately 300 Tote staff will work at the Galway Races Festival

Tote Guarantee will be available at the Galway Races for the 1st time

Tote Ireland have announced their plans for this year’s Galway Races Festival which runs from Monday, July 25 to Sunday, July 31. With full crowds guaranteed at Ballybrit for the first time since 2019, Tote are prepared for its busiest period of operating since before the pandemic.

In anticipation of this, Tote has undertaken a staff recruitment and training drive. In total Tote’s new and returning staff will number approximately 300 over the seven days of the festival.

This will be the thirteenth consecutive year in which Tote has sponsored the Tote Galway Plate, a race which has become the highlight of the summer National Hunt season. With a value of €270,000 it is also one of the richest jumps races of the year. The Tote Galway Plate is supported by a full card of Tote-sponsored races.

This year, Tote have expanded their support of the Galway Races with their sponsorship of the stable staff canteen for all seven days of the festival, recognising the vital contribution that stable staff make to racing.

Tote will also offer the Tote Guarantee at the Galway Races for the first time. Tote will pay whichever is the higher of the Tote Win pool price and the industry SP on all win bets. Tote Guarantee was first launched at Irish racecourses in March and has resulted in increased play in the Tote Win pool and has been very well received by customers. This price enhancement will also cover bets placed on the Qatar Goodwood Festival.

Ross Kierans, General Manager, Tote Ireland, said: “We expect this year’s Galway Races to be the busiest days of racing we have experienced in a number of years. We are particularly excited to offer Tote Guarantee at the Galway Races for the first time, delivering great value and greatly enhancing the raceday experience for our customers.

“We are also very proud to sponsor the stable staff canteen for the full week of the festival. Like stable staff, Tote attend every single race meeting in Ireland, that’s 390 days of racing this year. So, we understand the demands of racing and having your life set by the racing calendar. Without the hard work of the stable staff day in and day out, there would be no racing, so, it’s important to recognise their contribution.”
