The National Breast Cancer Research Institute & The Galway Races
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
One of the highlights of the Galway Races October Festival held in support of the National Breast Cancer Research Institute is our ‘Race in Pink’ day, that takes place Sunday, October 26th, for Breast Cancer Awareness month. Since we launched this charity race day back in 2018, the event has raised over €450,000 thanks to all of you who generously support it.
Guests will experience the ultimate day at the races with panoramic views of the racetrack from the iconic Killanin Stand while enjoying a drinks reception followed by a delicious four course lunch with wine. There will be plenty of entertainment with prizes galore, plus a best dressed competition for ladies and gents sponsored Anthony Ryans.

The National Breast Cancer Research Institute is an Irish charity that raises funds in support of the breast cancer research team lead by Professor Michael Kerin and based at the Lambe Institute, University of Galway. The institute-funded researchers are currently working on major national and international projects to improve the diagnosis and treatment for those diagnosed with breast cancer, where current statistics show that 1 in 7 Irish women will develop breast cancer before they reach the age of 75 with over 3,500 cases diagnosed annually. Race in Pink is one of the highlights of the charity’s fundraising calendar and the team at Galway Racecourse have put together a fantastic hospitality package to create a fun-filled day for those attending.
As part of the day, the draw will also take place for the charity’s annual ‘Win a BMW’ fundraiser, and celebrity tipsters will be on hand to make sure you’ll be a “Winner Alright”! But the real winner will be the charity as it’s hoped the event will raise significant funds in support of their research work.
