Prize Value triples in value at this years Best Dressed Lady Competition Sponsored by Anthony Ryan Ltd with the Ardilaun Hotel sponsoring Best Hat
Anthony Ryan’s, Galway’s leading Department store will continue their sponsorship of the Best Dressed Lady competition on Ladies Day, Thursday July 31st at this year’s Galway Races with the Ardilaun Hotel sponsoring the Best Hat on the day.
A major announcement made by Anthony Ryan is that the prize package is increasing to €17,000 (an increase of €12,000 from 2007). On the 31st July, the Best Dressed Lady will walk away with €4000 cash, a diamond neckpiece valued €6000, €2000 of vouchers for Anthony Ryan’s Galway store as well as a crystal vase from the collection by Irish Fashion Designer Louise Kennedy. The runner-up will receive €1500 Anthony Ryans Shopping Spree. The prize for the winner of the ‘Best Hat’ is a trip to Amsterdam courtesy of the Ardilaun. All finalists at the Best Dressed tent will be presented with a special collection of Versace cosmetics compliments of University Pharmacy, Galway.
As usual, to be first past the winning post at this years competition judges will have their eyes peeled for style and glamour. Style stakes will be exceptionally high where outfits of elegance, panache, flair and creativity will be matched with the adrenalin and excitement of the racing itself. Ladies Day at the Galway Races is a time for all fashionistas to show off their stunning and exquisite styles along with magnificent accessories and the all important fascinator! JUDGES
Judging this years event are well-known media personalities and fashion journalists – Bairbre Power Editor of the Weekend magazine at the Irish Independent and fashion stylist on RTE's The Afternoon Show, PJ Gibbons, Editor, Social and Personal Magazine, Lorraine Keane, presenter Xposé on TV3 as well as Patricia McCrossan, Editor, Galway NOW.
Ladies interested in taking part in this year’s Anthony Ryans Best Dressed Lady Competition to be held on Thursday July 31st are asked to arrive early as the finalists will be chosen by 3pm. There is no entry required for the competition. Judges will mingle through the crowd and will invite chosen finalists to the judging marquee which is located adjacent to the champagne tent in the race enclosure.
The winning outfits will be announced at 4pm just after the main race. The prize giving ceremony will take place in the enclosure immediately after the 5th race.
